Ubuntu-Maata identity

This logo I did for the Norwegian organization Ubuntu-Maata. Through education and entrepreneurship the organization contribute to North-Ugandan women´s access to education and the working force. This enables the women to fight for their rights to an greater extent.

Ubuntu is an African philosophy and an idea present in African spirituality that says
"I am because we are".

This organization want to promote women's position in society, and empower them through education and further economic opportunities. This way the women can make decisions about their own lives, including decisions about sending their own children to school.

I designed a circular logo to represent unity and the ubuntu philosophy. The sun stands as a symbol of hope and a new beginning. The water rings represents the ripple effect Ubuntu Matas work will have for the women, families and even whole communities that are involved.
